Balmoral Case Study
The Challenge
Offshore Engineering Division - Managing Director's Challange.
"We had won a major contract for a new product we had developed. The contract included a £3m penalty clause if we did not deliver on time. We had designed the product well, we had tested the product well, but right from the offset we had real problems in manufacture. We could not manufacture anywhere near as fast as we wanted. p; We had to get all our people involved in improving our processes and making those process changes stick."
The Method
- All levels and functions completed the intensive 'Bancroft Foundation' programme for Individual and Cross Functional Team Development
- In parallel the team were trained to carry out a detailed analysis of the process
- Cross functional project teams were formed to focus specifically, on manufacturing the new product to agreed time schedules. The teams were provided with ongoing support by Bancroft
Benefits and Achievements
- In very quick time the product was meeting the required production schedules and quality standards
- This impressive change in process and culture enabled the contract to be delivered on time avoiding the penalty clauses
- The Managing Director stated, "Effectively Bancroft saved the company £3m in penalty clauses. I haven't found another consultancy that can do anywhere near the same."
